FAQs

A muffineer is a small shaker or dredger historically used at the dining table for sprinkling sugar, salt, or spices onto hot buttered muffins and other baked goods.

These items were traditionally crafted from various hardwoods using a lathe to turn the body, with hand-drilled perforations in the lid for dispensing contents.

Authenticity is determined by examining tool marks, timber shrinkage, patina, wear patterns around the perforations, and overall craftsmanship consistent with historical periods.

It can be displayed on open shelving, dining tables, or sideboards alongside other treen and ceramic pieces to add warmth, texture, and historical character to a scheme.

Maintain antique treen by keeping it away from direct sunlight and excessive humidity, occasionally treating the timber with microcrystalline wax to nourish the wood without damaging the patina.
