This 19th-century garden urns and planters piece is a decorative terracotta olive jar in Mediterranean Country style, rendered in terracotta brown. The terracotta body includes a flared rim, loop handles, a rope-twist border, and visible weathering with green and black tones, supported by a black wrought iron scrollwork tripod stand. Its practical footprint measures 79 cm high, 44 cm wide, and 44 cm deep. Positioned in an empty corner, it suits a sunlit conservatory or garden setting to hold plants or stand as a decorative focal point. The jar displays an aged, moss-spotted surface finish, contrasting with the dark iron scroll feet at the base.

Terracotta olive jars were traditionally handcrafted in Mediterranean regions to store and transport liquid goods such as olive oil, wine, and preserved olives.

These vessels were hand-thrown or coil-built using regional clay, fired in kilns, and fitted with forged iron stands to support their rounded or tapered bases.

Authentic pieces display signs of natural weathering, surface lichen, hand-moulded lip profiles, thick clay construction, and irregular coil lines.

A terracotta urn on a stand functions as a architectural feature in an empty corner, hallway, or sunroom, introducing organic texture alongside stone and timber elements.

To prevent frost damage and spalling in cold climates, unglazed terracotta should be elevated off wet ground or relocated to a dry space during winter months.
