Why Sellingantiques dated this piece to THE 18TH CENTURY:
Underglaze cobalt Fence pattern: transfer-printed English porcelain from the 1770s.
Double blue tramline border: framing used on Worcester blue and white tea wares.
Deep saucer profile: made when tea was routinely sipped from the saucer.
Glaze gathered along the footrim: soaprock formula dipping before modern kiln furniture.

This eighteenth-century circular blue and white soft-paste porcelain saucer belongs to the Georgian Chinoiserie style, finished with an underglaze cobalt blue glaze over a crisp white ground. The surface displays a printed fence and floral chinoiserie landscape motif, complemented by concentric tramline rim lines in blue. The interior scene includes a zig-zag fence element, dense floral clusters, flying birds, and distant oriental pavilions beside water. A small hairline crack is visible on the rim edge, and the base remains unmarked. The saucer measures 12.5 cm wide by 2.7 cm deep in practical terms. Placed in a modern home, this piece works wonderfully displayed on a sideboard top or within a cabinet as part of a classic English country house interior scheme, adding historic character to a dining room or living space as a decorative collector item.

First Period Worcester porcelain refers to fine ceramics produced by the Worcester Porcelain Factory between 1751 and 1783, an era often designated as the Dr Wall period, which favoured chinoiserie designs and cobalt blue decoration.

Eighteenth-century Worcester ceramics were crafted from a soft-paste porcelain formula containing soaprock, which increased thermal shock resistance and enabled items to hold hot liquid without cracking.

Authentic pieces frequently display a soft greenish or greyish hue when held to light, precise underglaze blue decoration, and period factory markings such as a painted crescent or fretted square on the underside.

Display small porcelain saucers on acrylic stands within open shelving, arrange them as part of a gallery wall, or group them on sideboards alongside contemporary brass accents.

Clean delicate antique porcelain by hand using warm water and mild liquid soap, avoiding abrasive sponges, dishwashers, or sudden temperature changes.
