FAQs

The Georgian design era spans the reigns of the first four Georges, characterised by classical proportions, symmetry, and the transition from walnut to mahogany as the primary timber.

These pieces typically utilised solid mahogany or oak timbers, often featuring hand-cut dovetail joints in drawer construction and traditional wooden pegs or screws.

Authenticity is determined by examining timber oxidisation, hand-planed surfaces, traditional joinery methods, and signs of genuine age and wear rather than machine tooling.

Pairing dark wood antique furniture with minimalist walls and modern lighting creates a balanced scheme that highlights the historical character of the piece.

Maintain the timber by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources, and treat it periodically with traditional beeswax to nourish the wood.
