Pinnacles originated in medieval architecture primarily as functional weights to stabilise buttresses against lateral thrust, later evolving into purely decorative vertical elements during the Gothic and Gothic Revival periods.

Authentic architectural fragments are typically hand-carved from native regional stones such as limestone, sandstone, or granite using traditional banker masonry tools and techniques.

Authenticity is determined by evaluating tool marks, natural weathering patterns, weathering crusts, lichen growth, and consistency with historical stone types and geological sources.

Positioning the object on a mantelpiece, heavy timber console, or plinth allows its sculptural form and weathered texture to create a striking focal point in contemporary spaces.

Limestone should be kept indoors away from freeze-thaw cycles, cleaned only with a dry brush to preserve surface patination, and protected from acidic substances and abrasive cleaning agents.
