Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Enamel advertising signs, also known as porcelain enamel signs, became popular in the late 19th and mid-20th centuries as a durable medium for outdoor branding, utilising fused glass on metal to withstand weathering.

These signs were manufactured by applying powdered glass to a heavy sheet iron or steel base, which was then fired in a kiln at high temperatures to create a hard, glossy, and corrosion-resistant surface.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit genuine age-related wear such as chipping around the mounting holes, rust along the edges, multi-layered printing techniques, and a heavy gauge metal substrate rather than modern lightweight aluminium.

These pieces function well as focal wall art in industrial, eclectic, or transitional spaces, often mounted directly onto exposed brick or neutral plaster walls to highlight their graphic qualities.

Maintenance requires gentle cleaning with a soft cloth and mild soapy water to remove surface dust, avoiding abrasive scouring pads or harsh chemical solvents that can damage the vitrified glass coating.
