Delftware refers to tin-glazed earthenware made in the Netherlands and England, particularly during the 17th and 18th centuries, heavily inspired by imported Chinese porcelain.

These items were crafted from local clay, thrown on a wheel, fired, coated in an opaque white tin-glaze, and hand-painted with metal oxide pigments before a final glaze firing.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit crazing, minor kiln flaws, hand-painted brushwork with slight irregularities, and a porous earthenware body visible on unglazed foot rings.

Place the bowl as a focal point on a wooden dining table or bookshelf, allowing its historic craftsmanship to contrast against clean, modern lines.

Keep the item away from direct sunlight, dust it gently with a dry, soft cloth, and never submerge it in water or use harsh chemical cleaners to protect the fragile glaze.
