Flemish Baroque woodwork is characterised by deep relief carving, dynamic scrolling foliage, symmetry, and naturalistic motifs such as birds and flora, reflecting the artistic influence of the Low Countries during the period.

These panels are traditionally fashioned from solid European oak, hand-carved using gouges and chisels directly into the timber, often featuring pegged or tongue-and-groove joints typical of early cabinet-making.

Authentic pieces exhibit natural oxidisation, tool marks consistent with hand-working, shrinkage cracks, and a dry, wax-polished surface patina that develops over centuries of ageing.

These pieces can be mounted on plain walls as sculptural focal points, integrated into bespoke cabinetry, or displayed on custom stands to introduce historical texture and craftsmanship into modern spaces.

Preserve antique oak by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent timber splitting, and occasionally apply a neutral microcrystalline wax to nourish the wood surface.
