Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

An Italian mid-century modern bar or dessert cart designed by Aldo Tura, dating from the 1920 period. The trolley is constructed from mottled brown goatskin with a lacquered parchment finish, complemented by brass and glass elements. The rectangular frame holds two-tier glass shelves supported by swan structures, horn-shaped handles, and original brass spoked wheels at the front with small castors at the rear legs. The unit measures 69 cm high, 91 cm wide, and 64 cm deep in practical terms. This piece functions as a serving trolley or drinks cart in a living room, dining room, or empty corner of a home today. The design incorporates transparent shelving for storage alongside decorative metal hardware and organic forms. The materials show a mottled brown pattern across the goatskin surfaces, polished brass spokes on the larger wheels, and clear glass panels for the upper and lower tiers.

FAQs

During the mid-twentieth century, Italian designers created mobile serveware pieces that combined functional hospitality with expressive, modern silhouettes. Designers like Aldo Tura elevated everyday bar carts into sculptural furniture items using specialized craft techniques such as lacquered parchment and polished metal detailing.

This style of furniture typically utilizes dried goatskin or parchment stretched over a wooden form, which is then dyed and coated with multiple layers of high-gloss lacquer. Accent components are frequently made from cast brass, chrome, or clear glass shelves.

Authentic pieces feature signature high-gloss dyed parchment with visible skin grain variations under the clear lacquer. Construction details usually include quality brass hardware, cast spoked wheels, smooth rolling mechanisms, and occasionally paper maker labels or stamped markings on the underside.

A vintage bar cart serves as an accent piece in a dining room, living area, or reception room. It can be dressed with crystal glassware, decanters, and cocktail tools on the top tray, leaving lower shelves for art books or bottles.

Lacquered goatskin surfaces should be dusted regularly with a dry microfibre cloth. Avoid abrasives, harsh chemical solvents, or excessive heat and direct moisture, which can compromise the protective lacquer layer over time.
