Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

Georgian wall pockets were typically fashioned from brass, copper, or porcelain and were utilised in domestic interiors during the 18th and early 19th centuries to hold letters, documents, or spill lights near hearths.

These items were predominantly cast or sheet brass, frequently featuring pierced, cut-out, or engraved ornamentation created using hand tools and traditional metalworking techniques of the period.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-appropriate patination, hand-finished surfaces, evidence of historic manufacturing methods such as file marks or casting flaws, and fasteners consistent with early fabrication.

This piece can be mounted on a hallway or study wall to provide functional storage for mail or dried botanicals, adding a touch of historical metallic warmth to contemporary spaces.

Maintain the surface by dusting with a dry, soft cloth and avoid chemical polishes that strip the historic patina; keep the metal away from excessive moisture to prevent oxidation damage.
