Famille Rose, known in Chinese as Yangcai, emerged during the Qing dynasty in the 18th century, characterised by an opaque pink enamel derived from colloidal gold.

These pieces are crafted from high-fired white porcelain, meticulously hand-painted with mineral-based enamel pigments and often finished with gilt or moulded dragon handles.

Authenticity is assessed by examining the quality of the hand-painting, glaze consistency, foot ring wear, and presence of period reign marks, though many later pieces are revival or decorative works.

Position the flask as a striking focal point on a console table or mantelpiece, allowing its intricate colours and symmetrical form to contrast against neutral architectural backgrounds.

Dust gently with a soft, dry microfibre cloth and avoid using chemical cleaning agents or submersing the item in water, particularly if it features delicate overglaze enamel or gilt details.
