FAQs

Carved oak furniture has a rich heritage dating back centuries, particularly prominent in English and European craftsmanship where solid timber was intricately hand-carved with motifs reflecting the stylistic periods of the era.

These tables are traditionally constructed from solid English or European oak, utilizing traditional joinery techniques such as mortise and tenon, alongside meticulous hand-carving applied directly to the structural timber.

Authentic pieces exhibit natural timber ageing, hand-cut joinery marks, tool impressions from manual carving, and a deep, oxidised patina developed over generations of use.

Pairing a heavy carved wooden table with clean-lined contemporary sofas or minimalist decor creates a balanced contrast, allowing the historical craftsmanship to serve as a focal point.

Preserve antique oak by avoiding direct sunlight and moisture, maintaining stable room humidity, and occasionally applying natural beeswax to nourish and protect the timber grain.
