This Art Deco Moderne centre table, dating to 1930, is constructed from walnut and rosewood veneer in a dark brown colourway, with a circular plinth base and four vertical slab legs supporting a three-tiered structure. The piece incorporates a matched wood grain veneer top surface, an ebonised circular plinth base, and open circular shelving tiers beneath. The table stands 66 cm high, 65 cm wide, and 65 cm deep. Suitable for use in a foyer center, living room as a side table for a sofa, or as a display surface for books and decorative objects, this occasional table fits well in modernist and art deco interiors.

Art Deco Moderne furniture from the 1930s is characterised by streamlined geometric shapes, curved edges, and smooth horizontal or vertical lines. The movement emphasised architectural forms, functional simplicity, and the use of rich wood veneers.

Craftsmen typically utilised high-grade cabinet timbers including walnut, mahogany, oak, and rosewood veneers, often arranged in matched grain patterns. Secondary structural elements sometimes incorporated solid fruitwoods or stained hardwoods resting on plinth bases.

Authentic pieces feature period-correct joinery, natural timber oxidisation, hand-applied veneers, and solid structural weight consistent with early 20th-century manufacture. Inspection of the undersides and internal construction often reveals hand-cut screws or period alignment marks.

Position the piece as a focal point in a hallway foyer, bay window, or sitting room alcove. The lower tiers provide functional storage for art books, while the top surface accommodates sculptural ceramics or glass vases to balance the geometric timber structure.

Dust regularly with a dry, soft microfibre cloth and apply a natural beeswax polish twice a year along the direction of the wood grain. Keep the item away from direct heat sources and strong sunlight to prevent veneer movement and colour fading.
