FAQs

A treen spice tower is a turned wooden vessel historically used to store and grind spices like nutmeg during the Georgian era, featuring internal compartments and a built-in grater.

These items were typically turned from dense domestic or exotic hardwoods such as boxwood, fruitwood, or lignum vitae, often featuring bone or ivory finials.

Authenticity is identified through traditional lathe turning marks, hand-cut threads, period-appropriate patina, and the presence of internal grater inserts made of punched tin or steel.

Display the piece on open kitchen shelving, a sideboard, or a mantelpiece as a sculptural object that highlights historical craftsmanship and natural wood textures.

Maintain antique treen by keeping it away from direct sunlight and moisture fluctuations, occasionally feeding the dry wood with a microcrystalline wax to preserve the finish.
