Drum tables gained popularity during the late 18th and early 19th centuries, typically featuring a circular top, a central pedestal base, and an arrangement of drawers around the frieze.

Authentic pieces are generally constructed from solid mahogany or mahogany veneers, often incorporating hand-tooled leather inserts and brass hardware with dovetailed drawer construction.

Authentication involves examining timber oxidisation, hand-cut dovetail joints, traditional screw fixings, and wear patterns consistent with age rather than artificial distress.

This piece works effectively as a freestanding centre table in a study or as a functional surface beside seating, bridging traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design schemes.

Maintain the wood with traditional beeswax and protect the leather insert from direct sunlight and moisture by using specialist leather balms periodically.
