Regency console tables, emerging in the early 19th century, are characterised by classical proportions, architectural elements such as columns, and high-status timbers like mahogany.

These pieces typically utilised dense hardwoods such as mahogany or rosewood, often accented with gilt bronze, brass mounts, and topped with imported marble slabs.

Authenticity is evaluated through construction methods, including traditional joinery, hand-turned components, timber oxidisation, and the weight and thickness of the marble top.

Such tables serve as striking focal points in entrance halls or living spaces, contrasting effectively against contemporary neutral walls while providing a surface for minimal styling objects.

Maintain timber using specialist microcrystalline wax and protect marble surfaces from acidic substances using coasters and pH-neutral cleaners.
