Treen refers to small, functional wooden domestic objects made before the widespread use of plastics and mass manufacturing, often shaped on a lathe.

English treen was typically turned from domestic hardwoods such as sycamore, boxwood, maple, and beech due to their fine grain and stability.

Authenticity is identified through tool marks left by a pole lathe, deep historic patina, shrinking distortion in the wood grain, and natural wear patterns consistent with age.

Antique wooden vessels add warmth and texture when displayed on open shelves, sideboards, or coffee tables, contrasting effectively against modern minimalist surfaces.

Protect antique wood by keeping it away from direct sunlight, maintaining stable indoor humidity, and occasionally applying microcrystalline wax to nourish the dry surface without using water.
