FAQs

Victorian furniture made from burr walnut gained immense popularity during the mid-to-late 19th century, prized by cabinet makers for its complex, swirling grain patterns and luxurious aesthetic suited to formal drawing rooms.

These pieces typically utilized a softwood or hardwood secondary timber base, expertly veneered with thin slices of highly figured burr walnut and decorated with delicate marquetry or stringing inlays.

Authenticity is identified by examining the hand-cut dovetails, traditional joinery, natural timber shrinkage, genuine French polish finishes, and the characteristic depth and chatoyancy of genuine period veneer.

Pairing a richly figured antique wooden table with contemporary minimalist seating or placing it beneath modern statement lighting creates a striking focal point that anchors a transitional or eclectic living space.

Maintain stable indoor humidity levels, keep the wood away from direct sunlight and heat sources, and clean periodically with a soft, dry cloth while avoiding silicone-based polishes or harsh chemical cleaners.
