Edwardian furniture, produced during the reign of King Edward VII from 1901 to 1910, often draws inspiration from earlier periods such as Sheraton and Chippendale, featuring lighter proportions, refined inlay work, and polished timbers.

Cabinet makers of this era predominantly utilised dense hardwoods like mahogany and satinwood, frequently accented with boxwood stringing, brass drop handles, and fine veneer panels.

Authenticity is determined by examining hand-cut dovetail joints in the drawers, traditional timber shrinkage, appropriate oxidisation of the brass hardware, and construction methods consistent with early 20th-century workshops.

Pairing a warm wood antique piece with minimalist contemporary decor creates a balanced focal point, often utilized in a hallway or living room beneath a modern mirror.

Maintain the finish by dusting with a dry microfibre cloth, avoiding direct sunlight to prevent fading, and periodically applying a quality beeswax to nourish the timber.
