Antique Georgian Period Mahogany Console Table

Description

A wonderful antique Georgian period mahogany console table, made in England and dating from around the 1790-1810 period.

The quality is superb, this has a lovely shape and is of useful, slim proportions. It is solid mahogany with the edges beautifully inlaid in satin wood, it stands on beautifully tapered legs that terminate in spade feet. There are beautiful grain patterns throughout, and there is a single drawer with fine, hand cut dovetailed joints and an original locking key to open and close it.

The key stays in the lock, it either became stuck over the years or is meant to serve as a handle. It works well as a handle, being a fine and quite delicate lock that is over two hundred years old, its not recommended to try too hard to take it out.

We have had this recently re-polished, the condition is lovely for its age. There is some minor wear and normal patina throughout, expected from a piece of this age.
