We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

A bureau plat is a type of kneehole writing table, typically featuring a rectangular leather-inset top and multiple drawers, originating in France during the early 18th century.

These tables are traditionally constructed from fine hardwoods such as mahogany, walnut, or kingwood, often accented with gilt-bronze or ormolu mounts and leather writing surfaces.

Authentic pieces exhibit traditional joinery techniques such as hand-cut dovetails, genuine hand-tooled leather, and cast bronze mounts with natural patination indicative of age.

This piece functions effectively as a freestanding centrepiece in a home study, contrasting against minimalist contemporary decor to highlight its classical proportions.

Maintain the wood with appropriate furniture wax and clean the leather top using a slightly damp cloth, avoiding harsh chemicals and direct sunlight to prevent fading.
