Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Doulton Lambeth refers to the art pottery pieces produced by the Royal Doulton pottery company in South London, particularly during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The factory became renowned for its salt-glazed stoneware, intricate hand-tooled decoration, and collaborations with prominent artists of the Arts and Crafts movement.

These pieces were typically thrown from high-grade stoneware or fine terracotta clays, then decorated using techniques such as incising, beadwork, and slip-trailing. They often feature salt-glazing or rich coloured lead glazes, particularly cobalt blues, browns, and ochres.

Authentic pieces usually bear impressed factory stamps, including the Doulton Lambeth England mark, along with specific model numbers and the incised monogram initials of the individual artist and assistants who threw and decorated the piece.

An antique jardiniere serves as an exceptional focal point when used as a cachepot for trailing houseplants like ferns or ivies. It bridges traditional and contemporary spaces by introducing rich texture, artisanal craftsmanship, and deep cobalt colour to sideboards, consoles, or mantelpieces.

Clean the ceramic gently using a soft, damp cloth to remove dust, avoiding harsh chemical detergents or abrasive brushes that could damage the glaze. When using it for live plants, always place a smaller plastic nursery pot with a saucer inside to prevent moisture from sitting directly against the historic interior walls.
