Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This large Georgian mahogany drum table stands 75 cm high with a width and depth of 133.5 cm. The circular piece features a revolving top inset with green leather with gilt tooling, surrounded by frieze drawers fitted with round brass drop handles and central keyhole escutcheons. The timber displays a dark brown finish with natural grain variations. Below the shallow top sits a heavily turned and fluted central pedestal column, supported by four splayed legs with carved reeded bun feet terminating in brass castors. In a contemporary home, this table functions as a central desk or occasional table in a study, library, or large living room. The rotating mechanism of the top and the multiple drawers provide practical storage and surface space while maintaining a traditional aesthetic.

FAQs

Originating in the late 18th century, a drum table, also known as a rent table or library table, features a circular top mounted on a central pedestal base, incorporating drawers around the frieze.

These tables were predominantly constructed from solid mahogany or mahogany veneers, featuring inset tool-embossed leather tops, brass castors, and cast metal drawer handles.

Authentic period pieces typically feature hand-cut dovetail joints on frieze drawers, original brass castors, turned pedestal bases, and natural wear on the central column and drawer runners.

A drum table functions effectively as a focal point in a spacious entrance hall, a central desk in a home office, or a library table surrounded by accent chairs.

Dust the wood surface regularly with a soft dry cloth, apply natural beeswax along the grain annually, and treat the leather top with specialised leather conditioner to prevent drying.
