1890-1920 a large, finely detailed cast iron door stop, with a dolphin at the base and the tail forming part of the handle. It weighs 4.8kgs.

The measurements are 40cm in height, 23cm at the widest part with a depth of 7cm. Phots 6 & 7 show how sturdy it is.

It is in good condition with no signs of damage or repair.

This large late Victorian doorstop is cast in iron with a dark black finish. The piece takes the form of a mythological dolphin at the base, with its scaled tail rising to form part of the handle and intertwining with elaborate acanthus scrollwork beneath a fluted terminal. It rests on a heavy rectangular plinth base with stepped mouldings. The structure displays crisp relief detailing along the body of the sea creature and the curling foliage above. The doorstop stands 40 cm high, 23 cm wide, and 7 cm deep, weighing 4.8 kg. Placed beside the front door or in a hallway, this practical item functions to keep doors open while adding a decorative architectural accent to an interior.
