Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

An Irish silver table is a specialised 18th-century occasional table developed in Ireland during the Georgian period. Designed originally to hold tea services or silver display pieces, these tables typically feature a moulded dished rim to prevent items from sliding off, alongside deep aprons adorned with elaborate relief carvings.

George III silver tables were predominantly crafted from dense, imported Cuban or West Indian mahogany, prized for its strength, rich colour, and suitability for intricate hand-carving. The aprons and legs were often carved from solid timber sections to support the structural weight of metalware.

Authentic Irish pieces from the 18th century frequently feature prominent motif carvings, such as central scallop shells or acanthus leaves on the frieze, bold cabriole legs, and ball and claw feet. Examiners also look for period-correct hand-saw marks, original corner blocks beneath the frame, and natural timber shrinkage across the top.

A Georgian silver table functions effectively as an accent piece in contemporary living spaces, foyers, or hallways. Positioned alongside minimalist or upholstered modern seating, its detailed woodwork provides textural contrast without overwhelming the room layout.

Mahogany furniture should be kept away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent timber movement and finish fading. Regular dusting with a soft lint-free cloth, combined with periodic applications of natural beeswax, preserves the timber patination without causing build-up.
