Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Mounted horn displays became popular during the nineteenth century alongside the rise of cabinets of curiosities and scientific interest in natural history. They were frequently preserved as field trophies or collected as sculptural natural specimens to adorn country houses, libraries, and estate billiard rooms.

These specimens typically feature keratin horn sheaths mounted over the core bone structure of the skull. Historical examples are often mounted onto wooden shields, leather bases, or contemporary metal display stands constructed from iron or steel.

Authentic specimens demonstrate age through natural surface patination, subtle ridge wear, and micro-cracking along the keratin sheaths. The skull bone will show natural ossification and age-appropriate tonal variation rather than bright modern bleaching.

Mounted horns provide natural texture and dramatic form when placed on a sideboard, fireplace mantel, or library console. They complement dark wood panelling, leather seating, and neutral mineral palettes within contemporary or traditional interiors.

Dust the horns regularly using a soft, dry microfibre cloth or horsehair brush. Keep the specimen away from direct sunlight, radiator heat, and high humidity, as extreme temperature fluctuations can cause keratin to dry out, warp, or split.
