FAQs

Wedgwood jasperware was developed by Josiah Wedgwood in the late 18th century, characterised by its unglazed stoneware body and classical low-relief white figures against a coloured ground.

These pieces are crafted from fine stoneware ceramic, often mounted in wooden frames with gilt or ebonised bezels to highlight the contrasting relief figures.

Authentic pieces typically feature impressed maker marks, precise moulding definition, crisp undercuts in the relief work, and historical framing techniques appropriate to the period.

They can be displayed on a gallery wall alongside contemporary art to create a striking contrast, or placed individually on a mantelpiece to add classical texture and depth.

Keep them out of direct sunlight to prevent fading, dust gently with a soft dry brush, and avoid using liquid cleaners or abrasive materials on the ceramic surface.
