A teestoof, or peat bucket, is a traditional Dutch container historically used to hold peat or embers for foot stoves or hearth heating in 18th and 19th-century homes.

These pieces are typically constructed from staved timber such as mahogany or oak, reinforced with heavy brass bands, and fitted with an internal metal liner and swing handle.

Authenticity is identified through period-appropriate construction methods, hand-hammered brass work, dovetail or staved joinery, and natural patina consistent with age and use.

They make excellent decorative containers for holding rolled fireside blankets, dried botanicals, or large umbrellas next to a fireplace or entryway.

Dust the wood regularly with a dry cloth and apply occasional high-quality beeswax. The brass can be left with its natural oxidisation or gently polished with a non-abrasive cleaner.
