An Art Deco Period Table Telescope.

1920 - 1940
Description

An Art deco period (1930) stainless steel and brass telescope on an adjustable tripod stand. The instrument is well made with fine threads coupling the barrels. The brass eyepiece has a lens shutter. It has excellent lenses which produce a clear bright image with excellent magnification.(See last two photographs and note the magnified image is extremely difficult to capture in a photograph and is much much clearer when viewed with the eye). The telescope is attached to the stand with two brass screw adjusted clamps and can be removed with ease. The stand is stable and can rotate horizontaly. The knuckle joint allows angular movement. It further adjusts vertically on a spiked strut which can be extracted enabling the telescope to be mounted on a suitable base when in rough ground. The magification is sufficient to observe the moons craters well.

Height unextended 40 cm extended about 56 cm. Length normally focussed about 61cm

Diameter of the objective lens about 4 cm and the main barrel 4.4 cm

Brass focussing barrel diameter about 4 cm and the spread of the feet of the base 23 cm

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
