This nineteenth-century Welsh folk art ladle or lletwad originates from West Wales and dates from around 1860 to 1880. Fashioned entirely from cherrywood, the treen object displays an intense warm brown timber colour with a polished finish and natural grain variations across the surface. The design includes a deep oval bowl, a smooth turned central shaft, and a carved hooked terminal shaped into an avian form at the top of the handle. Gentle wear and subtle surface marks indicate age and past domestic handling. The piece measures 35 cm in length, making it a substantial example of traditional rural woodworking.
