Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Regency tripod centre table typically features a circular top supported by a central column resting on three splayed legs. Produced during the early 19th century, these tables often incorporate tilt-top mechanisms to allow the top to be stored vertically when not in use.

Burr yew is prized for its dense, intricate grain pattern created by abnormal tree growths. Due to its limited availability and difficulty to work, cabinetmakers used burr yew veneers primarily on high-end accent furniture and table tops.

Authentic Regency pieces feature hand-cut joinery, period-correct brass tilt catches, original brass castors, and natural signs of timber shrinkage or oxidisation. The underside of the top often shows hand-sawn wood marks and historic brass fittings.

A tilt-top table can be placed in an entry foyer, a bay window, or an empty corner. When tilted vertically, the figure of the wood acts as a natural backdrop, while tilting it flat provides a functional surface for table lamps and decorative objects.

Maintain the finish by dusting with a soft, dry microfibre cloth and applying high-grade beeswax once or twice a year. Keep the table away from direct sunlight, radiators, and excess humidity to prevent the veneer from lifting or drying out.
