Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Georgian blue and white transferware refers to earthenware produced in Britain during the late 18th and early 19th centuries, decorated using a copper-plate engraving transfer method. The technique allowed complex pictorial scenes, often rendered in cobalt blue underglaze, to be duplicated efficiently onto ceramic table items.

Potters engraved designs onto copper plates, applied ink mixed with oil, and pressed the image onto tissue paper. The wet paper was then rubbed onto unglazed pottery before being fired and glazed, permanently sealing the printed design under a clear protective layer.

Authentic pieces frequently show maker marks stamped or printed on the reverse, along with subtle irregularities in the transfer seam where paper edges met. The depth of the cobalt blue colour, minor firing flaws, and light wear patterns on unglazed foot rims also assist in period identification.

These ceramic platters are commonly displayed upright on plate stands inside dresser cabinets, mounted on feature walls using wire hangers, or laid flat on sideboards and dining tables as foundational decorative trays.

Pieces should be washed gently by hand in lukewarm water with mild liquid soap, avoiding abrasive pads or dishwashers. Submerging items with existing hairline cracks should be avoided to prevent moisture absorption into the porous earthenware body.
