Description

Wonderfully stylish and completely original rare 1930's Art Deco female advertising shop counter mannequin. She's made from hollowed plaster and has a hardboard base. Having been very skillfully and beautifully painted, her very subtle make up, blushed cheeks, real eyelashes accentuate her hand painted eyes, she's perfect for display. Very typical of Deco mannequins with stylised long pedestal column base, in gold and pastel green. She stands 40 cm tall so an excellent size for dressing tables and general display and certainly worthy of being added to any collection. Condition, well aside two small spots where two slithers of paint have come away she's in almost perfect condition for her age. No cracks, crazing is to the minimum, no discolouration. Her hair clips are original and showing just early signs of rusting but for come up to 90 odd years that's to be expected. She definitely won't disappoint , all we can really say is find another ? FREE UK DELIVERY

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Art Deco display pieces typically feature streamlined geometric forms, stylised facial features, and influences from the interwar avant-garde design movements.

Period display busts were commonly manufactured from painted composition, papier-mache, plaster, or early plastics, often mounted on wooden or metal bases.

Authenticity is determined by original hand-painted facial features, period-accurate hairstyles, material oxidisation, and construction techniques characteristic of early twentieth-century manufacturing.

This type of decorative object can be positioned on a bookshelf, mantelpiece, or console table to introduce architectural interest and a historical focal point to a room.

Preservation requires dusting with a dry microfibre cloth, avoiding chemical cleaning agents to protect fragile painted surfaces, and keeping the piece out of direct sunlight.
