This Regency centre table is made from dark brown rosewood with striking veneers and gilt brass mounts. The rectangular top has rounded corners and a gilt brass moulded edge, above a shallow frieze with a narrow husk and flower head moulded border. The piece stands on curved double-scroll 'x' pattern end supports detailed with brass roundels and united by a central turned stretcher, terminating in swept feet with original cast brass lion paw castors. Measuring 75 cm high, 92.5 cm wide and 38 cm deep, the table suits placement in the centre of a foyer, entrance hall or living room.

Originating in early 19th-century Britain, Regency centre tables were designed to stand in the middle of a room, often featuring classical motifs, fine wood veneers, and brass embellishments.

Regency makers frequently utilised dark exotic woods such as rosewood and mahogany, complemented by solid brass mounts, castors, and intricate inlaid detailing.

Genuine Regency pieces exhibit period-appropriate joinery, original brass hardware with natural patina, historical wood grain variations, and characteristic design elements like scroll legs or paw feet.

A Regency centre table serves as a focal point in an entryway, living room centre, or behind a sofa, harmonising with both traditional decor and minimalist contemporary spaces.

Dust regularly with a soft microfibre cloth, apply a high-quality beeswax polish sparingly to the timber, and avoid harsh chemical cleaners or direct exposure to heat sources.
