Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Scottish Regency rosewood chiffonier is a piece from the Regency period, standing 117 cm high, 115 cm wide, and 55 cm deep. The dark brown timber has a polished finish with well-figured grain throughout the top, tier, and base. The upper section has a mirrored shelf supported by scrolling arms, set against a mirror back framed with beaded trim. Beneath this sits a frieze drawer decorated with carved rosettes and flower heads. The structure is supported at the front by two large scrolling legs with acanthus leaves on the knees, foliate carving, and ribbed sections leading to curled toes, while the back stands on rectangular supports above a concave, enclosed plinth. Today, this traditional item serves as an elegant display and storage unit in a hallway, dining room, or living area. The mirror-backed tier holds decorative items, while the surface and drawer provide space for everyday use. Its grand Regency style integrates smoothly into period interiors as well as contemporary spaces seeking architectural character and classic woodwork.

FAQs

A Regency chiffonier is a piece of furniture originating in the early nineteenth century, designed primarily as a compact sideboard or server with drawers, shelves, and frequently a mirrored back superstructure.

Cabinetmakers during the Regency period predominantly utilised dark exotic hardwoods such as rosewood and mahogany, often featuring brass inlay, bead moulding, and silvered glass mirror plates.

Authentic Scottish Regency pieces typically feature bold architectural silhouettes, dramatic S-scroll or C-scroll leg supports, flame veneers, and detailed botanical or rosette carving along the frieze.

An antique chiffonier functions effectively as an entryway console or dining room server, where its rich wood tones can be balanced against neutral walls and modern contemporary lighting.

Maintain rosewood furniture by dusting regularly with a dry soft cloth and applying a high-grade beeswax polish annually, while avoiding direct sunlight and proximity to heat sources.
