This Regency games table exemplifies the classic style of 1800, executed in mahogany, rosewood, and brass with a warm brown colour. The rectangular top incorporates projecting D-shaped end sections enclosed by pierced brass gallery rails, while the centre section displays an inlaid chessboard surface. Dual ring-turned tapering supports connect via matching stretchers, descending to downswept feet. The piece stands 71 cm high, 80 cm wide, and 41 cm deep. Its compact proportions make it suitable for display in an empty corner of a living room or study, where it serves both as an accent table and a functional surface for traditional board games.

Popularised in the early 19th century during the British Regency era, games tables were multi-functional occasional tables designed for parlour entertainment, frequently featuring inlaid chessboards, backgammon boards, or removable tops.

Cabinetmakers of the era primarily utilised woods such as mahogany, rosewood, and walnut, often accenting pieces with brass galleries, satinwood stringing, or turned supports.

Authentic Regency pieces feature hand-cut joinery, original brass hardware with natural patination, precise marquetry inlays, and structural timber showing age-appropriate shrinkage.

Position the table in a reading nook, bay window, or empty corner alongside contemporary seating to create an inviting occasional space while providing functional surface area.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply beeswax sparingly once or twice a year, avoiding direct sunlight, radiators, and moisture to preserve the wood finish and brass gallery.
