Early Victorian Oak refectory table.
A good 18th century heavy framed oak refectory table base, with later rectangular oak top, moulded frieze, four bulbous turned legs and low stretchers. Length 212 cm, width 79 cm. Comfortable 8 seater.
Condition report; All round very good condition. no splits in the top, one of the bulbous legs has a small natural seasoned split in the bulbous area, adding character to the overall appearance. These legs were turned ''green'' over the centuries small splits appear as the timbers season and acclimatise to centuries of temperature changes. This is what give early oak furniture along with its deep patina, character and warming charm.
Wear scuffs to the under stretchers easily polished out if required, otherwise clean and maintains a nice rich colour. Pegged and moulded double stretchered frame.
Size; 212 x 79 x 74 cms
