Large Antique Fruitwood Corpus Christi, France/Spain 18th Century.

This is a most beautiful carved 18th century Corpus Christi in fruitwood.

Most probably was this once a part of an altar crucifix in a church in France or Spain in the 18th. century.

The corpus is carved in a very realistic style, with a very nice detailed facial expression and fine detailed hands, torso, legs and feet, also the rope around and the shroud around his waist are fine in detail.

The corpus has been carved in three sections i.e. arms and torso.

A hand crafted nail is still situated trough both feet.

The corpus is as stated carved in fruitwood and is surprisingly light in weight.
