George III Egyptian Revival Plum Pudding Mahogany Supper Table

£2,975    $3,681    €3,522
An outstanding 18th Century Egyptian revival supper table with ebony inlaid chamfered top and frieze drawers. The drawers are flanked by gilt brass Egyptian mask head and drop ring mounts to each corner. The table is raised on twin tapering pillars, hipped and splayed legs, terminating with lion paw feet and under castors. The pillars and legs are also ebony inlaid. Nelson''s victory at the Battle of the Nile in 1798 ignited a great interest in Egyptian art and furniture design. The designs of Thomas Hope were a major influence in this movement and this table is in the manner of his work. The table is in excellent condition with a superb colour and patina. A fine, high quality plum pudding mahogany table, easy to place as a side/hall table or as a small dining table.
