Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

These 1850 French Chateau style doors are formed from painted cherrywood finished in a pale grey wax. The architecture incorporates an arched top, swept panels, and serpentine Rococo moulding, complemented by a carved astragal down the central meeting stile and original brass escutcheons with brass top hinges. The surfaces show a slightly shabbied appearance from sanding, priming, and painting work. The piece measures 166 cm high, 121 cm wide, and 5 cm deep overall. In contemporary interiors, these panels find use as decorative architectural salvage, wall features, or room dividers. They suit bedrooms, living spaces, or hallways seeking a distinct period French aesthetic without requiring structural installation, resting against a wall or serving as a striking visual backdrop behind furniture.

FAQs

Louis XV style doors are recognised by asymmetrical curves, serpentine mouldings, delicate carved foliate details, and gentle arched tops that reflect the Rococo period of 18th-century France.

Craftsmen typically utilised dense local hardwoods such as cherrywood, oak, or walnut, combining mortise and tenon joinery with decorative cast brass or gilt hardware.

Authentic period doors feature hand-planed surfaces, pegged timber construction, historical paint layering or age-appropriate patina, and original cast metal fittings with hand-chased ornamentation.

These doors can be mounted as decorative architectural wall art, rehung as pantry or closet entrances, or integrated into custom fitted cabinetry to add historic character to modern spaces.

Dust surfaces gently with a soft dry cloth and avoid water or chemical cleaners that might compromise painted finishes. Brass fittings can be wiped clean without abrasive polish to preserve their aged patina.
