Good C19th large Italian marble urn, the campana shaped urn in Rosso di Verona marble, the top with roll over moulded edge, above the flared body mounted with a large well carved lion mask in carrara marble; above a gadrooned moulding standing on a shaped socle and plinth, with a carved swag between lion paw feet, also in carrara marble.

The campana urn is a bell-shaped vessel originating from classical Greco-Roman antiquity. The form was widely popularised throughout Europe during the 18th and 19th centuries during the Neoclassical revival and the era of the Grand Tour, when travellers brought Italian classical designs back home.
