This Georgian mahogany wine cooler is a piece of antique English country house furniture dating from around 1750 to 1760. The timber displays a rich warm brown tone with a polished finish and natural grain. Key details include a caddy-shaped stepped hinged lid fitted with an original brass lifting handle, matching brass side carrying handles, a central brass keyhole escutcheon, a moulded frieze, and cabriole legs terminating in brass castors. Measuring 67 cm high, 71 cm wide, and 48 cm deep, the interior holds fifteen bottles. In a contemporary home, this item serves as a functional drinks cabinet or statement storage chest. It fits well in an empty corner of a dining room, living area, or hallway, where it provides character and historic utility alongside other traditional or transitional furnishings.

A Georgian mahogany wine cooler, also known as a cellarette, is an eighteenth or early nineteenth-century wooden chest designed to store and cool wine bottles near the dining table.

Traditional cellarettes were primarily constructed from solid or veneered mahogany, frequently featuring zinc or lead inner linings, brass carrying handles, and castors.

Authentic pieces display hand-cut dovetail joints, period-correct brass hardware, naturally oxidized timber on unfinished surfaces, and historical wear within the interior lining.

A cellarette can be placed in a dining area, hallway, or living room as an accent table or unique decorative storage chest.

Maintain the finish by wiping with a dry microfiber cloth and applying beeswax regularly, ensuring the piece is kept away from direct heat sources and high humidity.
