Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A pair of Chinese traditional console tables dating from 1900, constructed from dark brown elm and hardwood with a polished dark timber finish. Each item has a semi-circular top, a curved wooden front apron, and slender cabriole legs. Visible details include mortise and tenon joinery, subtle wood grain patterns across the surface, and paper price labels resting upon the timber tops. They slot together to make a single round table. Each table has a width of 119.5 cm, a depth of 58 cm, and a height of 89 cm. These console tables suit placement beside the front door or against a hallway wall, providing a practical surface for everyday items. The flat back edge allows the pieces to sit flush against a vertical partition, while joining them creates a larger central surface for a dining room or living space. Their period construction and dark hardwood material integrate well into traditional or maximalist interiors.

FAQs

A Chinese demi-lune table is a semi-circular console table designed to stand flush against a flat wall. Traditionally crafted in pairs, two matching tables can also be placed together to create a single circular dining or display table.

These tables are traditionally constructed from indigenous hardwoods such as elm, rosewood, or zitan. They feature complex mortise-and-tenon joinery, avoiding the use of nails or screws, and are often finished with dark natural lacquers or wax polishes.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-carved joinery, visible grain variations, and floating-panel tabletop construction that accommodates wood expansion. Look for signs of historic hand-planing on the undersides and natural surface wear consistent with age.

A pair of demi-lune tables can be placed symmetrically on either side of a doorway, fireplace, or feature piece of art to create balance. Alternatively, combine the pair into a central round accent table in an entryway or living space.

Maintain timber finishes by dusting regularly with a dry, soft cloth and applying a clear beeswax paste once or twice a year. Keep the furniture away from direct heat sources and excessive moisture to prevent wood movement or splitting.
