This pair of nineteenth century Swedish demi lune console tables follows a neoclassical style with French chateau design influences. Constructed from wood with an off-white painted surface, each piece displays a semicircular top and slender square tapered legs. The timber shows visible surface wear, authentic crackling within the painted finish, and subtle variations in tone across the painted faux marble top. Measuring 75 cm high, 111 cm wide and 55 cm deep, these functional furnishings suit placement beside the front door or along a narrow hallway in a modern home. Such versatile consoles fit neatly against walls in living spaces, dining areas or entrance halls to display lamps, decorative bowls or framed photographs. The classic half-round shape allows them to occupy minimal floor space while offering a practical surface for everyday items. The muted neutral palette coordinates easily with various interior colour schemes, providing a refined antique touch to traditional and contemporary rooms alike.

FAQs

A demi lune console table is a semicircular table designed to sit flush against a wall, originating in the late 18th century during the Neoclassical period.

They are typically constructed from hardwoods or softwoods such as pine, oak, or beech, finished with layered coats of paint or gesso to create a muted surface.

Authentic pieces feature traditional joinery, slender square-tapered legs, light surface cracking in the paint layer, and age-consistent wear to the timber.

Position them symmetrically on either side of a doorway, fireplace, or focal mirror to create architectural balance in an entryway or formal reception room.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth, avoid harsh chemical cleaners or damp sponges, and position the items away from direct heat sources and sunlight.
