Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

French farmhouse tables are utilitarian wooden dining tables originating from rural France during the 18th and 19th centuries, typically constructed from regional hardwoods like oak or fruitwood to serve as the functional centrepiece of country kitchens.

Traditional French farmhouse tables were crafted using solid hardwood planks joined across a wooden apron frame, supported by sturdy square or turned legs using mortise and tenon joinery secured with wooden pegs.

Authentic pieces generally feature hand-planed top boards, wooden peg construction rather than modern steel screws, natural wear patterns on lower leg surfaces, and historical timber shrinkage along joint lines.

Pair a long oak farmhouse table with contemporary dining chairs or a simple wooden bench to balance historical character with clean architectural lines in an open-plan kitchen or dining space.

Clean the surface regularly using a soft cloth dampened with warm water, apply clear beeswax polish annually to nourish the timber, and protect the surface from direct heat sources or extreme humidity fluctuations.
