In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Arts and Crafts photo frame is an early 20th-century decorative piece fashioned from brass in a warm gold colour. The design includes an oval aperture surrounded by a hammered texture, repousse foliage, a studded border, and a handmade easel support, complemented by a maker's mark stamped for Hugh Wallis. The surface displays signs of age and use, including light surface marks and minor dinks alongside darker oxidised areas within the foliage recesses. It measures 21 cm high and 16 cm wide. Placed in a gentleman's library or on a mantelpiece, the frame holds a personal photograph while adding a traditional metallic accent to the room.

Arts and Crafts photo frames from the late 19th and early 20th centuries emphasize handcraftsmanship, visible structural details, and hand-hammered metal finishes. They frequently incorporate stylized botanical motifs, repousse technique, and simple geometric or organic forms reacting against mass industrial production.

Craftsmen predominantly used sheet brass, copper, pewter, and wrought iron. These metals were beaten, chased, or embossed by hand, often left unpolished or given an patinated finish to highlight the hand-worked surface texture.

Authentic pieces display subtle irregularities from hand-hammering, hand-cut metal edges, and period-appropriate backing materials such as easel stands or wooden supports. Look for hand-chased ornamentation, age-consistent oxidisation, and maker marks from prominent guilds or workshops of the era.

Place the frame on a dark wood desk, mantelpiece, or styled shelf alongside contemporary ceramic vessels or books. The textured metallic surface provides visual contrast against muted wall paint or natural timber finishes.

Dust the frame regularly with a dry, soft microfibre cloth to remove surface dirt. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners or abrasive polishes, as these can strip historical patination and damage the original metal surface finish.
