The Fancy Fox has dated this Derby Porcelain Gardener Figurine to the 18th Century.
His left leg is deeply bent and the foot tucked on tiptoe behind his right. The later versions, often incised model "7", have a different leg and foot position and the gardener is stood in front of a pillar with no bocage. Patch marks, c.1770-1775.

Reference: Bradshaw plate 130 shows an example of the later version incised "7", as does DPIS Derby Porcelain Figures, Shepherd, page 252.
It measures 17.8cm (7") high and 9cm (3 1/2") wide by 7.5cm (3") deep.

In excellent display condition. There has been some very fine quality professional restoration that is difficult to detect without very close and experienced inspection. He has been repaired in this way at the neck, right wrist and left arm. The spade handle has been restored and there has been a small chip to the underside of his hat brim and to the edges of the bocage.
