Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Constructed from figured oak, the piece possesses a warm brown timber colour with a deep, polished shine. Visible details include a chamfered pediment top, moulded edges, a moulded plinth base, and three glazed viewing windows with turned wooden side knobs for adjusting the original printed linen spools. The item stands 26.5 cm high, 20.5 cm wide, and 9 cm deep, making it a practical accessory for daily use. Suitable for placement on an office desk or study table, the calendar serves to display the current day, date, and month in a traditional working format. Its compact proportions allow it to sit comfortably among other desktop items while maintaining its functional role in the modern home office or workspace.

FAQs

An Edwardian perpetual desk calendar is a mechanical tabletop calendar produced in the early 20th century. It features internal fabric or paper rollers printed with days, dates, and months that are manually adjusted using external side knobs.

These calendars were typically crafted from hardwoods such as quarter-sawn oak, mahogany, or walnut. Internal mechanisms featured linen or cotton printed rolls attached to wooden dowels, often finished with turned side knobs.

Authentic period examples exhibit natural wood patination, characteristic grain figure such as ray fleck in quarter-sawn oak, period typography on the fabric rollers, and traditional joinery including wooden pegs and screwed back panels.

These functional objects sit appropriately on executive writing desks, open shelving units, console tables, or mantelpieces within contemporary study spaces and home offices.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply beeswax sparingly to the timber surfaces. Turn the mechanical knobs gently to prevent tension tearing on the original internal fabric rollers, and keep away from direct heat sources.
