Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This English Art Deco floor lamp from circa 1930 combines a standing light and a two-tier side table into one functional piece. Constructed from solid oak with walnut veneer, the timber surfaces display a warm brown polished finish. A curved silver-coloured chrome arch supports a black cylindrical fabric drum shade with a white inner lining. A small brown bakelite switch is mounted directly onto the square vertical timber column. The two-tier side table provides practical shelving with rounded corners and straight wooden legs resting flat on the floor. Measuring 166 cm high, 60 cm wide and 36 cm deep, this combination lamp and table suits placement at the end of a sofa or beside an armchair in a living room, study or reading corner. The dual functionality offers surface space for books or decorative objects while simultaneously providing overhead lighting for daily use.

FAQs

British Art Deco lighting in the 1930s integrated clean geometric lines, streamlined forms, and functional multi-use design, often combining rich hardwoods like walnut with modern chromed metals.

These dual-purpose pieces typically feature solid wood or veneered walnut frames, polished chrome arching stems, Bakelite electrical switches, and fabric or parchment shades.

Authentic period pieces display period-appropriate joinery on timber elements, original Bakelite or brass fittings, aged patination on chrome elements, and period wiring routes within the stem.

Position the lamp alongside an armchair or at the end of a sofa to serve simultaneously as an ambient reading light and an occasional surface for books or drinks.

Clean wooden surfaces with a soft cloth and apply beeswax polish sparingly, while wiping down chrome elements with a dry microfibre cloth to remove moisture and prevent tarnish.
