The House of Antiques has dated this Art Deco Copper Floor Lamp to the 1920s.
The lamp displays a strong architectural character, with a stepped square plinth rising through low, pyramidal shoulders to a tall cylindrical stem. Particularly distinctive is the repeated use of parallel ribbed detailing, seen in the rectangular panels across the base, the fluted collar surrounding the lower upright, and again at the central shaft coupling. This recurring motif gives the piece a cohesive and distinctly Art Deco appearance.
The decorative ribs appear to have been individually formed and applied rather than simply stamped into the surface, adding considerable depth and texture to the design. Fluted collars and carefully articulated junctions further reinforce its geometric, machine-age aesthetic.
The copper has developed a wonderfully rich, naturally aged surface, with warm tonal variation, areas of oxidation and traces of verdigris around the joints. These signs of age give the lamp considerable character while highlighting the quality and construction of the metalwork.
